About From Ashes to Art Shows

It all started when everything ended.

In April 2018, the life that I knew came to a crashing halt. I lost people and pets that I loved. I expected to lose EVERYTHING, from my home, to my job, my children, and even my actual freedom. I expected to end up living in my car, alone.

Fortunately, I was very blessed. I kept my job, my home, and even though my beautiful foster son had to go, my amazing adopted son stayed.

In the end, it was just him and me. I was saddled with $167,000 in debt, but had the grit and determination to turn things around.

Six month later, I went on a spiritual retreat in the mountains of Santa Monica, CA. There, I renewed my love and commitment to my art, using only a ballpoint pen and a piece of paper.

With my son as my inspiration, I began to draw wildlife, with one parent and one child as the subject. Each drawing meant to capture the safety and love that I vowed to create for my son.

And so Stu Rosen Art was born.

I did my first art show just a couple of months later, and quickly began to do shows in Downtown Los Angeles, Laguna Beach, Beverly Hills and London.

All of my research into Car Life turned into a love for Van Life. I put it as my Retirement Plan, but it was accelerated into being after a layoff in January 2025.

I bought a converted Army box truck and hitting the open road in search of shows around the country.

Going Forth Boldly Into the Great Unknown.

Thanks for coming along.
