Going Back is Moving Forward

About 2/3 my life ago, I learned about “Fail Forward Fast.” In other words, make as many mistakes as possible at the beginning, so you can fix them before you really need something bigger.

This week has been one of astronomical failures, and it’s propelling me forward in ways I couldn’t have achieved otherwise.

My biggest lesson is I’m just not ready to camp remotely. Not only do I not know how, I now have a looooong list of things I need to do in order to be ready “someday.”

(I also learned to plan for safer roads and cell service).

How lucky am I to have failed with a Motel 6 just down the mountainside? Trying to figure it all out over a burrito and coffee?

But rather than stay stubborn and suffer in silence, I’m choosing to retreat to home base.

Retreat is not defeat.

I’m not really going “back”… I’m still moving forward.

I’m going to the place that has what I need to get what I want.

Cutting my losses for the win!

Besides, the plan for the rest of the year is to turn the learning curve into loops. Going, growing, and coming home.

The real beauty of “freedom”… Something I only learned a few days ago… is not that I am able to make whatever choice I want… but rather that EVERY choice I make is the right one.

It’s just about a different experience.

Left. Right. Forward. Back.

They’re all forward.
