Called “An Angel in the Arms”, this is my most “beloved” piece.
As soon as I gave this to a dear friend for his birthday, it was accepted into an art show. He offered to give it back, which I immediately refused.
I had a previous sketch of it, so decided to “fill it out” and send that one to the show.
I agreed to donate it if it didn’t sell, so when I didn’t hear back, I just went on with my life.
Lo and behold, while retrieving a fallen pen from my sofa, I discovered an envelope with a check! It had sold, after all!
I loved the piece so much that I made a THIRD copy for my wall.
Then, during a Beverly Hill Art Show, a couple on layover from LAX, just had to have it. “We’re on our way to Berlin,” they told me. “When do you leave?” I asked. “In a couple of hours,” they replied.
“Oh!”
And just like that, the couple and this angel were off to its new home.
