October 2026
P22 was a legend in Los Angeles, overcoming the obstacles of the urban sprawl into his territory. He not only seemed to survive City Life, he thrived.
Eventually, it proved to be too much. The trenches we call freeways took away his strength, and our hopes.
I was going to do just one of my “usual drawings” when I heard the news of his passing.
I knew what I had to do.
I shifted all my plans towards putting my hopes and dreams into this portrait.
I’m so glad I did.
The original sold within 2 hours of posting on Instagram and I was commissioned to create canvases for the SaveLAcougars foundation. We sold over 70 within 2 days, to raise funds for the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing in Agora Hills, CA.
This bridge will save lives. It won’t bring P22 back, but will hopefully ensure that he did not die in vain.
RIP, Prince.
