Ten years ago, I became Papa, and it has been one of the most challenging, rewarding, and meaningful adventures of my life. When I returned to creating art in 2018, my son became the inspiration behind so much of my work. Whether it was obvious in the image or hidden beneath the surface, the themes of love, protection, guidance, and the bond between parent and child found their way into my drawings again and again.
Recently, we celebrated his 21st birthday, and I couldn’t be prouder of the man he has become. As my role evolves from guardian to advisor, one thing remains unchanged—I will always be Papa. This Father’s Day, I want to honor not only fathers, but all father figures who show up with love, patience, wisdom, and support. To every dad, daddy, pop, papa, stepfather, grandfather, and mentor: Happy Father’s Day.
