On this special day, I celebrate the Love of my Life, LEILANI.

……………………………………………

NATIONAL CAT DAY was founded in 2005: Pet and family lifestyle expert Colleen Paige created the holiday to help raise awareness about the millions of homeless cats in shelters and encourage adoption.

Roughly 3 million to 4 million cats enter U.S. animal shelters each year. The day promotes rescue over buying from pet stores or breeders.

Other countries observe similar days on different dates, such as February 17 in Italy, February 22 in Japan, and March 1 in Russia, while International Cat Day is held globally on August 8.

How to Celebrate:

ADOPT OR FOSTER: Visit a local shelter or rescue organization to bring home a new feline companion.

DONATE AND VOLUNTEER: Provide shelters with food, toys, clean blankets, or your time to help care for displaced cats.

PAMPER YOUR PET: Give your own cat extra playtime, special treats, or a brand-new cardboard box to lounge in.

SHARE ONLINE: Post photos of your cats using the hashtag #NationalCatDay.
