What was supposed to be the best day ever, when I finally get to pick up my van, didn’t quite start as planned…
This wasn’t how I wanted to end the chapter, but Life has its own plans.
Arriving at the car rental, I noticed that I had neglected to fill up the gas tank. So I plugged in the nearest gas station into my GPS and headed out.
I made a full stop, saw a car in the distance, and thought it was a four-way stop.
It wasn’t.
While I was only going 5 mph, she had to get to school.
We both swerved to try and prevent a collision.
We didn’t.
I’m fine. She’s fine. The police are fine. The firemen are fine. Everyone’s fine.
The cars, on the other hand, are totalled.
“Would you like collision insurance?” they pressed at the counter when I picked it up.
Usually everyone says to decline. “It’s such a rip off” and “your insurance covers it!”
“Sure,” I said, “why not?”
You don’t need insurance… until you do.
So, the tow truck driver drove it up the driveway, back to the rental company and Mike, the rep said, “You’re good to go.”
Boy, am I grateful!
I’m also good to go to traffic school.
And I’m grateful for that too, I guess.

Did I mention I also picked up the van today?
So, this story has a happy starting.

Video and more on that after I rest a bit.
